Product Description
With SATA interface, WD Scorpio Blue drives offer high-performance, low power consumption, and cool operation, perfect for notebooks and other portable devices. Pick the drive that suits your needs with the confidence in knowing that all WD Scorpio Blue drives are built to the highest standards of quality and reliability.Whether they are in an external drive or a notebook computer, WD Scorpio Blue SATA drives offer the most available capacity for space-hungry operating systems with plenty of room left over for photos, music, and video. In a notebook drive, silence is golden. WD's exclusive WhisperDrive combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden.WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD's SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long-term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non-operational shock tolerance.

Summary: This is "The Hard Drive" for the PS3 2010-03-08
Comment: I bought this hard drive a few months ago due to the lack of space of my PS3 80 GB hard drive. I made a back up of the data from the PS3 hard drive, and then I removed the old one and installed the new one (500 GB nice!) and it was immediately detected and formatted in a few instants. I transferred all of the PS3 data, everything ran fine and right now I have used like 150 GB and I still have plenty space left for use for demos, videos, music, saves, download content, etc.

About this drive I must say:

Pros:
It's a Western Digital.
Compatible with PS3 recommended specs (for instance: 5400 RPM, 2.5-inch hard drive).
Size 500 GB.

Cons:
The package does not seem to be very secure with those air bags included, not sure if those air bags will fully protect an OEM hard drive.

Despite of that minor inconvenient, Western Digital hard disks ROCKS!!.
100% recommended.
5 stars.

Summary: Dead on Opening 2010-03-05
Comment: I bought this Drive on sale at Fry's for 69 odd some dollars. I was going to use it in a enclosure i bought as an external drive. as soon as i set it up which the EASE OF INSTALLATION was simple, the drive would not spin up. I took everything apart and removed the drive from the enclosure and attached it to a USB to SATA/PATA adapter and thats when i heard the dreaded click of death. how the heck could a brand new hard drive that hasnt been out of its static wraper for more than 20 minutes headcrash?

Fry's would not take it back and i could not go back either due to poor weather. They told me to ship it to Western digital. Western Digitals RMA request is conveluded and difficult to manuver around. i choose to pre pay for a UPS label. it took me 5 tries 3 RMA requests and 2 creditcards before i was finnaly able to get the lable. then i found out i screwed up on my address and that added a 6th RMA but this was after i paid for the label attached to another RMA#. I finaly got a replacement but have not gotten around to try it. i ordered a 3.5" to 2.5" for a computer i am building as a replacement for the current 80GB drive i am using.

Summary: Perfect for PS3 2010-03-03
Comment: I purchased this Hard Drive to upgrade the 60gb already in my system. Everything runs smoothly, works great in the PS3 and easy to install and format.

Summary: Cheap and functional 2010-03-01
Comment: Overall a low price hard drive for my sony laptop. Has a slight ticking noise to it when it reads/writes data. The black version is a higher end version which I will probably get next time.

Summary: Great buy! 2010-02-28
Comment: I just bought 2 more of these. The price is great for what you get. I use them for external's, have installed them in my PS3's and one will go in my new Mac. Can't go wrong with these.
