Summary: Good upgrade 2010-03-01
Comment: Drive was purchased as an upgrade for a notebook prior to upgrade to Windows 7.
Perception of the product is:
-Computer is more silent
-Boot up and shut down times are faster (although this could be due to W7)
-There was absolutely no issue during installation (both physical and of the new OS).
It seems to have been a very good choice for the Dell D620!

Summary: Awesome Upgrade for my T61 Thinkpad 2010-02-24
Comment: I love the WD Scorpio Black, its very fast and unlike other people's comments it is not at all noisy.

Summary: Great drive for an upgrade 2010-02-23
Comment: This drive was completely as I expected, virtually zero sound, smooth, and fast. I had no problems using it for upgrading my HP laptop, it dropped right in and the BIOS found it perfectly. I partitioned it and setup a dual boot WinXP/Linux OS arrangement it's been working great ever since.
This drive has kept my faith in Western Digital drives, good job WD. Amazon shipped it super quick and it arrived undamaged, what more can you ask?

Summary: Unfortunately failed within a week of purchase 2010-02-23
Comment: I used it for just 10 days. No evident failure but an annoying clicking sound every couple of minutes (sounded like if the disk was stopping and the head parking). I tried to run Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics but always and immediately got the error : "Cable test: Write sector error".
I asked support from Western Digital and they asked me to return it for a replacement. I asked Amazon for a refund.
Probably I was not lucky, but this was my first and last Western Digital hard disk purchase.
