Comment: Fast. Works perfectly in a early 2010 MacBook pro. Does NOT get hot. I can only hear it in a quiet room with nothing else happening...besides that...don't hear it. I'd buy again

Comment: Bought this hard drive a few weeks back, but delayed installing it until the old drive really got cranky. After trying twice to transfer files and applications to a DVD+R with no success, I shut down the laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501) and swapped out the hard drive in just 7 minutes time.
Then, I installed the original XP operating system from the recovery disk and the rest of the Dell software from the remaining recovery library and was up and running in less than 2 hours.
After myriad downloads from Microsoft, my Inspiron is running faster than ever (after all, this drive is 7200 rpm versus 5400 for the original). Using Microsoft Security Essentials instead of McAfee or Norton, my boot-up time from turn-on to Comcast's home page on the Internet is an astounding 62 seconds!
And moving the laptop around on hard surfaces doesn't bother it any more, which sometimes was a problem with the older hard drive.
Strongly recommended.

Comment: Shopped Amazon for ease of purchase and speed. Price was just below others/ big box stores and shipping was free.
In this case the drive came from another vendor ([..]) so it was not as quick as Amazon (they have a distribution facility in Phoenix). Packaging was sufficient, pulled the installation docs from the dell website, and installation into my dell laptop was a non-event. Spent a few more dollars for the Free Fall Sensor as the laptop is primarily used by my daughter and of-course her friends. Performance appears to be a bit better than the original but its hard to say given the majority of the us is IM'ing on Facebook.

Comment: ITs too noisy and my laptop is getting heated up and any stuff that i place on the left side of my system are getting heated too....
I dont know why any one didnt mention about this issue in their reviews...
