It was the highest capacity parallel interface A/V optimized drive I could locate. My only concern is that it seemed to get a bit hot when I copied all my data over to it. I did not measure the current drain; the specs. claim it is quite low. Having the drive use low energy is a major consideration for DVR applications for two reasons. Since it runs 24/7, low energy use has the least impact on the environment and utility bills. If is uses a lot of energy it will also likely generate a lot of waste heat, which will shorten the life of the product it's used in and add to my overall cooling load, further contributing to environmental and utility bill impact. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The internal upgrade allows for 60hrs HD programing and 300hrs SD programing. The speed and quiet operation is better than expected. This drive was designed for internal DVR and video recording units. The built-in software format and initlized the 500GB within ten minutes. 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
