I am happy to report that I was able to repair my grandsons Toshiba laptop myself at minimum cost. Ordered, received and installed the Toshiba hard drive sold here. Reloaded software and laptop is now as good as new. Geeksquad wanted a lot more dollars to do the same thing. Troubleshooting the original problem was quite easy, the old drive was howling like the dogs of hell.
