Rebit promises a "set it and forget it" backup experience. That was not true in my case. There are three areas of failure.

First, I have a gaming desktop that has a RAID array (excuse the jargon)hard disk setup for speed. Will Rebit restore to RAID? No. Irritating but I could live with that. If the hard disk died, I would replace it with an ordinary hard disk and restore.

The second "Gotcha" is a second backup. It is a good idea to make a second backup which is elsewhere. Online backup services have multiplied but some people complain that they are better at backing up than restoring. Some much for that -- backup is one thing on a computer that must be perfect and never fail. With hard disks so cheap, it is better to buy a portable disk, back up and then take it out of the building. Will Rebit back up to more than one disk? Bought Rebit to backup 3 PC's. It loaded easily and worked great right out of the box. Everything was perfect until my external hard drive crashed and I needed to restore everything from Rebit back to this drive. Copy and paste was very cumbersome. There was no way to exclude previously deleted files that were backed up on Rebit. After copy and paste the entire hard drive back it was now time to re-delete the originally deleted files. As I was going through the files I noticed that Rebit did not actually back up everything. Documents, files and folders were missing. Some documents were scattered between several folders. This software is useless if I can't trust it.

Tried to instal it on 2 different machines. On a Vista x64 sp2 - it's unable to connect to the ReBit backup drive. On my Win7 x64 machine, it can connect, but the ability to select which drives you want to backup (or exclude) is disabled. So I have no way of excluding an internal drive I use for Win7 backups. So it took hours backing up a drive I didn't want to backup in the first place. I'll probably give the software to someone with a simpler computer setup and hopefully they'll have more luck.
