Product Description
Adding an SSD to a desktop already using a standard hard disk drive is a smart and efficient way to upgrade. Transferring the operating system and applications from the HDD to the SSD allows the SSD to be used as a bootable drive that takes full advantage of the flash-based technology. For notebooks, SSDNow drives are a perfect replacement for hard drives resulting in faster, more reliable performance. Making this change will improve a notebook's efficiency in a wide range of tasks, from booting up to running the most robust operating system and demanding applications.SSDNow uses a standard SATA interface but, unlike a regular HDD, SSD is very rugged and built with no moving parts, making it ideal for power users and road warriors who push the limits of their notebooks. Other benefits include reduced power usage, less noise and less heat generation. Kingston's SSDNow V Series offers performance gains and power consumption reductions at a fraction of the cost of a system.

Summary: Kingston DOESN'T honor warranty outside US !!! 2010-03-05
Comment: I was thinking buy a Kingston SSD in Amazon, and ask for my son that lives in US forward it to me.
Before my final decision, I called to Kingston here for know about the warranty procedure, and for my surprise they said that if I buy a Kingston product in US, I'll have to send back to US for repair, if something happen !!!
As a Apple and Intel customer, I never had any issue when I need to repair an iten, because both companies honor their warranties in any place of the world.
I'd like to warn another prospects trying buy Kingston outside their own countries.
After that issue, I bought an Intel and recommend to everyone check about warranty before buy an expensive product like a SSD.

Summary: This Hard Drive Is A Disgrace. 2010-02-10
Comment: So you want to speed up your PC? If you do, do not get this item. I decided that I would like to speed up my computer using an SSD drive. Seing the price for the 250 gig models scared me so I decided to get this one. I saved all my files in other drives and was only going to use this one for the operating system and programs. My computer was working great when I transfered of all of my files to other hard drives and only kept the operating system and programs. The next day, I got this in the mail. I transfered all of the data from one drive to the next easily and quickly (about 30 mins.) I was shocked to see how long it took to load windows (almost a minute) when it only took about 15 secons with my old WD hard drive. It took about 30 seconds to load most web pages (3 minutes for facebook) when it used to take about 3 seconds. Downloads were a nightmare! I finally gave up on this HD, so I tried to transfer the data to the old drive only to find that after going through the entire process with the supplied software again, neither hard drive worked properly. I had to reinstall Windows again from scratch. I now use this hard drive store my music collection.
I am using a custom computer with the following specs:
Processor: Core 2 Quad 2.6 Ghz
2 Gigs of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
1 320G SATA II HD
1 25OG SATA II HD
1 80G SATA II Notebook HD (Recycled from a PS3 I upgraded)
1 64G SSD Drive (A.K.A. waste of money)
1 ATI HD Video Card
1 Audigy X-Fi Titanium Edition (PCIe) sound card
1 Gigabyte Motherboard
It is running Windows XP Media Center Edition
P.S. If you decide to get this despite my warning, know that it comes with a mounting bracket that lets you mount 2 2.5" hard drives in a 3.5" bay.

Summary: SSD not ready for prime time 2010-01-17
Comment: Nothing specifically against SSDNow drive, but the consumer grade SSD are not ready for prime time. Operating Systems (i.e. Windows 7) are just learning how to prolong the life of the SSD drives (ie Windows 7 TRIM feature) and leverage the features of these drives. Keep your hard earned $$$ in your pocket or put this $$$ toward a RAID based system like Iomega ix4-200d. You will get more space, more IOPS and MB/s.
I shelled out over $200 for this drive expecting great performance. Yes, it was great for a few weeks. I installed a brand new SSDNow into my Dell. At the same time I installed Windows 7 and ran IOMeter tests. Sure enough I was getting the published IOPS and Throughput. After about a month, I noticed that my computer is getting very slow. I ran IOMeter tests against this drive and the 2nd SATA drive in my laptop. To my surprise, my SATA drive outperformed the SSD.

Summary: What a Frustrating Experience With This SSD 2010-01-11
Comment: It may be ok for cloning but I spent six hours trying to install an OS on it for a dual boot. First Win 7 said it was not configured for installation (no explanation). It was formatted but shown as "slave" no matter which SATA connector I used. So I decided to clone instead but Acronis software locked up at first screen. More problems followed, including the corruption of my Master Boot Record, forcing a repair from the Win 7 install disk.......enough said. It was removed, repackaged, and is waiting for UPS pickup later today for return to Amazon.
Please note: Instructions for this drive are almost non-existent. Go to the Kingston Website for a video. Also check the FAQs, etc. You will learn how to set it up in the BIOS.
