The IBM 30 GB EIDE hard drive includes the IBM safety ramp feature (head load/unload capability), which helps protect data by moving the heads off the media surface when powering down. In addition, a laminated top cover and ceramic spindle bearings reduce drive acoustics for a very quiet drive. Utilizing proven IBM technologies such as TrueTrack servo and No-ID sector formatting, the package includes all cables, mounting screws, a high-speed IDE cable, installation software, and an installation guide.
The 30 GB EIDE hard disk drive comes with a three-year warranty.

Can't say enough about how quiet this drive is...I mean I have to actually stop and listen for it before I can even hear it in operation. The access time is amazingly fast as well. The Ultra ATA-100 with 7200rpm is so much more faster than I though it would be when compared to my Maxtor 5400 rpm drive. The instructions are crystal clear and the tools IBM includes with the package are excellent. When I first installed this drive I had no clue what I was doing but an hour later I had it installed, formatted, and was putting as much music, pictures, and games as I could find on it. Needless to say I highly recommend this drive to anyone who is seeking to upgrade their current system or just add another hard drive. I just ordered 2 more IBM drives for my new RAID setup so I really can't tell from first hand experiance how they operate under RAID but from many of the specs I have seen and the reviews...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: IBM 30 GB EIDE Hard Drive (Personal Computers) Installation of this unit and transferring the contents of the HD (a WD 6 Gig) it replaced, including operating system (Windows 98sp2)and all, was truly simple: shut down the machine, pop the new HD in (I did have to swap around my data cable but the documentation is well written and clear, even to remind you that the red strip goes toward the power supply) fire it up, and run the software on the 3.5" floppy. Simple steps, clear illustrated instructions, and all the hardware needed except the phillips head screwdriver. Nice work, IBM! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: IBM 30 GB EIDE Hard Drive (Personal Computers) This is a great drive. Setup utility is very well thought out.. docs are clear and concise. Performance is snappy and much quieter than my old Western Digital drive. It's easy to see that the engineering behind this drive is first rate (glass media, ceramic spindle bearings, etc.) You can't go wrong with this drive. |
