Hitachi 0A56417 2.5-Inch 320 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive

What makes a good drive? Speed? Size? Reliability? For me, I can shop for size and rated performance, but what I don't know without buying it or reading about it is how loud it is when searching or idle. This drive is so quiet that I can just barely hear it in my MacBookPro. It's twice the size yet quieter than the 160 I replaced. Of course it has great storage capability for most users and it performs quickly. Swapping out the drive was simple and easy... it is a direct replacement for the one that was in the Mac. Although this is a product review, I still want to add a plug for Amazon. I have Amazon Prime, so for only $4 more this drive arrived in perfect condition about 24 hours after I ordered it, and their price was $2 cheaper than what I found available. The drive and Amazon are highly recommended.
