The PortaGig 50 has a small, portable, aluminum case and runs quietly with its fanless design. Connected by FireWire 800, USB or eSATA, it reports the drive's health and temperature as a background task using Glyph Manager, notifying you if your drive needs attention. PortaGig 50 has a rear power switch, uses an Oxford 934 chip, and is finished off with a classic Glyph styling and a stainless steel face plate. Designed for field recording, moving audio, video, graphics, and prepress files, it includes a universal power supply and a carrying sleeve.

The Glyph Portagig 50 - 500GB external drive is exactly what I expected. Best quality drive I have EVER owned and come across. Working in the music industry, I need a fast and efficient hard drive with a lot of horse power to keep up with my 50 track + Logic and Pro Tools sessions. Nothing beats Glyph. Fits into your pocket or pack it in your carry-on with your laptop, headphones and AKAI LPK25. 7200rpm. Multiple ports. Plug it into the wall or power it from your MacBook Pro. Load it up with a couple hundred gigabytes of East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Platinum samples and make music. Great value. Made in the USA. Yep, I'm sold.

Simply Love this drive. Compact, great choice of connectors. Wish it could be buss powered, but other than that, I am a big fan.
