This review is from: Crucial RealSSD C300 2.5" 64GB Solid State Drive (Accessory) I purchased RealSSD C300, 64GB to make my 4 years old PC to hybrid system. I reinstalled windows XP to realSSD, then copied back data files, such as "My documents" folder, "desktop", "outlook", movies, music etc. to SATA HDD, configured XP for it. The result was very stressfree, fast PC with a lot of storage space with small amount of investment. Very happy with the purchase. 8 of 11 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Crucial RealSSD C300 2.5" 64GB Solid State Drive (Accessory) Pros: Was fast until they released a horrible firmware update that still remains available on their site for download.
Cons: The 006 firmware update that came out in November addressed lots of issues but introduced a huge bug. Stuttering now on the drive. Browsing the internet or watching videos has a 1-2 sec screen freeze delay which might seem like nothing but it is extremely annoying. A $20 hard drive from 1980 doesn't even do that! As I am typing this I can watch the huge delay of my letters coming up. I just typed "huge delay" into this box and it took 3 seconds to show up. For shame Crucial. Other Thoughts: Crucial has been silent for over 8 weeks on a fix. If your shipped drive comes with the old 002 firmware on it. DO NOT UPGRADE to 006. If you got shipped an 006 drive, enjoy your paperweight. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Monsterd (MI USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I installed Windows 7 Home Pro 64 and a few other system essential programs. Windows installed extrmemly fast and the muliple restarts during install were quick. I have not timed it, but I'd say from power on to in windows opening programs is about 10 secs. I just wish I would have bought 2 or the 124 gig SSD. I installed it on my P67 Fatality mobo that came with a SSD tray and multiple SATA 3 connectors. Extremely easy. If you're wondering if 64 gigs is enough, I have windows 7 and all drivers for my PC along with my MMO loaded onto it and still have around 25 gigs left. Just make sure you change your download folder for your internet browser or clear it so it doesn't fill your SSD too quickly with needless junk. Buy this. |
