Our old Inspiron 6400 took forever to boot, shutdown, browse the web, you name it.
Replaced the 5400RPM harddrive with this and it boots XP in less than a minute, shuts down in seconds, and brings up applications almost instantly.

Pricey (why it got 4 stars instead of 5) compared to a regular hard drive, but it runs quiet and cool. The price ended up being cheaper than getting a new laptop.

If I had it to do over again, I'd make the same decision.

Note that this drive comes in four versions, two with the infamous JMicron controller (SLC/MLC) and two with the SMi controller (SLC/MLC). This review is for the MLC version with the SMi controller.

First off, inside the box, the drive is in an anti-static bag sealed with a sticker that says "Warranty will be void if this seal is broken or removed". So, opening the package voids the warranty! All that's included in the box is the drive itself, four screws, a warranty card and a QA inspection card, which are mainly written in Chinese. Beware that if you're the kind of person who needs to call tech support for help installing or setting up, their phone number is in China. They don't have a North American phone number.

I am from Singapore. I received this product 10 days after my ordering. I upgrade my Dell Inspiron 9300, which has a Fujitsu HDD and it works perfectly.
